Thread Art Earrings
The woman artisans who make these wooden earrings live in the impoverished outskirts of Guatemala City known as “Esperanza” (Meaning ‘Hope’). All are mothers and homemakers. Some are widows, or have been abandoned by their husbands. Some confront alcoholism in their families. Many are the sole providers. This jewelry has been created for both national and international markets and has permitted this group to become self-sustaining and to help raise funds for families in the hurricane-devastated Santiago Atitlan area.
