Leopard Dream Bracelet
Creating beaded jewelry is a tradition that has been passed down for generations in the highlands of Guatemala. Master artisans work with new artisans so that they can learn the art and, in turn, be able to earn income for themselves and their families. These bracelets are made by artisan women living in villages in the Guatemalan highlands near lake Atitlan. The artisans are using their income to contribute to their household income, and in some cases their craft-work has shifted the women into the role of primary wage-earner in their families. A commitment to Fair Trade supports these types of economic opportunities in disadvantaged regions.
